Koiripur is a halt, not a junction. It sits on the line that runs from Varanasi through Jaunpur and Sultanpur to Lucknow, under Northern Railway’s Lucknow division. Indian Railways classes small stations of this kind NSG-6.

What is interesting here is not romance but the fact that a rail line put this town on a national network. When the line and the halt opened has not been found in any source, and it is this section’s first research priority.

Conflict 03 · Railway traffic figures

Four commercial rail-booking aggregators give four different train counts for Koiripur (KEPR): “approximately 2”, “a total of 4”, “22 trains”, and “59 trains”. None cites Indian Railways. Several also carry boilerplate calling KEPR “one of the busiest railway stations”, which is plainly false for an NSG-6-class halt.

  • RailYatri“59 trains”
  • ixigo“22 trains”
  • ProkeralaNames Farakka Express and the Varanasi–Sultanpur passenger

Rule for the site: never cite an aggregator for a number. Use only the Indian Railways NTES / Northern Railway Lucknow Division timetable, dated at the point of citation (“as of the 2025–26 working timetable”). Otherwise say “a small number of passenger and MEMU services stop here” and leave it unquantified.
