Timelineसमय-रेखा

This timeline is deliberately uneven. The eras for which no record has been found appear here as gaps rather than as filler. An empty stretch is information too, and in this archive it is the most useful kind.

1900–1947

The railway, Tripathi's life, the national movement

  1. 1903

The Sultanpur District Gazetteer is published

The earliest accessible administrative description of the region, and still the source the district administration cites on its own history page. For Koiripur it is the first document that must be read page by page.

  2. 1917–33

Kavita Kaumudi is published in six parts

The first Hindi anthology to collect village songs. Tripathi gathered the material by travelling through villages — the work that makes Koiripur's claim on literary history its strongest.

2000–2015

The Amethi bifurcation (2010), highway upgrades

  1. 2001

The census records a town population of 7,268

Literacy at 56 per cent — 65 male, 47 female. Nineteen per cent of the population under the age of six. It is the first figure that attaches directly to Koiripur rather than to the tehsil.

  2. 2010

Amethi district is carved out of Sultanpur

The district Koiripur belongs to was reshaped. It bears on administrative references, and matters whenever sources from before and after 2010 are compared.

  3. 2011

About 8,900 recorded in the tehsil's single urban unit

Census 2011 shows exactly one town in Lambhua tehsil — 8,927 people in 1,294 households. That town is Koiripur, but a competing figure circulates in the sources; see Conflict 01.
